He was an enthusiastic member of the Terminus Motorcycle Riders Group and Dinner Club.

He is survived by his parents, Neil Shorthouse and Jeanne Shorthouse, his step-mother, Patty Pflum, his brother Jordan Matthew Shorthouse (Colette), and his sisters, Kristen Thompson (Steve) and Beth Shorthouse (Dan Croskey). He will always be known as "Cool Uncle Jake" to his nieces and nephews, Xavier Shorthouse, Giana Shorthouse, Tyler Blackwell, Caleb Shorthouse, Jacob Croskey, Olivia Thompson, Mia Shorthouse and Tyli Hinkson. He is also survived by his ex-wife Jenny Stone of East Point, Georgia and a mountain of cousins, extended family, and friends who meant the world to him.
