SHORTHOUSE, Jason Ladon
Jason Ladon Shorthouse of Atlanta, Georgia died on Aug. 21, 2021 in a motorcycle accident in Aspen, Colorado. He was 50 years old.
Born in Philadelphia on March 30, 1971, Jason grew up in Atlanta, GA. He was the youngest of 4 children to Neil and Jeanne Shorthouse. He graduated from Northside High School in 1989 then went to Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida, where he studied Film and Video production. For the last 10 years, Jason worked for ABM supporting the Delta Community Credit Union.
Jason was generous and loyal to his family and friends. He was a talented photographer, an animal lover, enjoyed travel and riding motorcycles, and could build nearly anything. He was curious about everything, a great storyteller and always made people laugh. For a number of years, he served as an engineer and sailor on two square-rigged sailing ships: Alexandria and Half Moon. He was an enthusiastic member of the Terminus Motorcycle Riders Group and Dinner Club.
He is survived by his parents, Neil Shorthouse and Jeanne Shorthouse, his step-mother, Patty Pflum, his brother Jordan Matthew Shorthouse (Colette), and his sisters, Kristen Thompson (Steve) and Beth Shorthouse (Dan Croskey). He will always be known as "Cool Uncle Jake" to his nieces and nephews, Xavier Shorthouse, Giana Shorthouse, Tyler Blackwell, Caleb Shorthouse, Jacob Croskey, Olivia Thompson, Mia Shorthouse and Tyli Hinkson. He is also survived by his ex-wife Jenny Stone of East Point, Georgia and a mountain of cousins, extended family, and friends who meant the world to him.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 26 at 3 PM at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Downtown Atlanta. The service will be livestreamed. The family requests that only vaccinated people attend and masks will be required.
