Shoppers at a Massachusetts Walmart were startled recently when they witnessed birds in the packaged meat aisle, sitting on top of and eating raw ground beef.
"They were clustering around the hamburger, and they were eating out of the packages," Scott Conway told WGGB.
The wild birds eating to-be-purchased meat raised many health concerns with shoppers.
Conway told WGGB that when he alerted an employee about the birds, the worker didn’t seemed concerned.
“As sad as it sounds, they made it seem like it was a normal thing. 'Yea, they’re here',” he said.
A Walmart spokesperson told Western Mass News that they hired a professional to remove the birds and added safeguards to prevent the birds from entering in the future.
The Chicopee Health Department also investigated the claims and an inspector said that the meat was discarded.
