Brooke Doss, Paula Smith and Chari Guzman have all been close to being Miss Georgia.
Doss has been first runner-up for the past two years. Smith was second runner-up in 2017, and Guzman was third runner-up in both 2017 and 2016. This year, each of them feels ready to claim the crown.

The three contestants and Atlanta pageant coach Chris Saltalamacchio spoke with the AJC about what it takes to win Miss Georgia for the AccessAtlanta podcast.
The pageant is ongoing in Columbus this week, with a winner to be crowned on Saturday, June 16. Three nights of preliminary competition are completed in advance of the final pageant, with awards given for talent, swimsuit and on-stage question each night.
Each of the three women featured in this episode has already won at least one award in preliminary competition. Guzman, competing as Miss Fulton County, tied for the talent award Tuesday with Miss Cobb County Victoria Hill. Guzman tied with Doss, Miss Atlanta, for the on-stage question award Wednesday. Smith, competing as Miss Capital City, tied for the swimsuit award with Miss Historic Southern Plains Sarah DeLoach on Wednesday night.
