Warm weather for your Friday morning, heavy rain expected this weekend

Severe Weather Team 2 Chief Meteorologist Glenn Burns says drivers can also expect warmer than average temperatures for this time of the year. We'll start out in the 30s and then warm up to the 50s by lunch.

The weekend will be a much different story, as heavy rain will move in late Saturday.

"Overall, rainfall amounts will be around 1 to 2 inches in north Georgia, less south of I-20," Severe Weather Team 2 meteorologist Brad Nitz said.

Looking at the entire weekend, there are threats of minor flooding, isolated power outages and slick roads in the mountains.

After the rain pushes through, cold air will come in Saturday. Early Sunday morning, there will be a potential for a light, wintry mix in the north Georgia mountains and farther south to Cherokee and Bartow counties.

It will clear up and turn much cooler for all of us Sunday night into Monday morning. Severe Weather Team 2 says you can expect temperatures in the teens and low 20s.
