Truck follows couple off I-985, slams into their car in road rage, police say

Police are on the lookout for a white pickup truck they believe was involved in a road rage case in Hall County.

A couple was exiting Interstate 985 Sunday when the truck driver tried to get ahead of them on the ramp, according to Oakwood police.

That's when the couple told police that the driver followed them down Mundy Mill Road and fired two gunshots.

“He just swerved over from the interstate and we got off. And he was road raging and purposely hit the back of us and started shooting,” the wife said on the 911 calls that Channel 2 obtained.

Her husband agreed to talk with Channel 2’s Tyisha Fernandes  but he asked us not to identify him or his wife.

The victim said he and his wife were driving northbound on I-985 in Flowery Branch around 9 p.m. Sunday.

That’s when a car in front of them slowed down in the express lane and held up traffic. The man noticed a white pickup truck behind him, that began riding his bumper too closely.

“In that moment, he swerved and tried to hit us on the right. Then, we swerved off to the left so that he wouldn’t hit us. Then I accelerated to get away from him," the victim said.

Moments later, he says the other driver hit their car so hard that the bumper smashed in.

“We heard two gunshots and after that I flew off and left him in the dust," he said.
