A 22-year-old Atlanta man is facing multiple charges in Fulton County Jail after leading police on a chase late Wednesday night that resulted in a Georgia State Trooper crashing his vehicle in Midtown.
Quintay Holmes is charged with fleeing and eluding, reckless conduct and failure to obey a traffic control device, authorities told Channel 2 Action News.
State Trooper Charles Holloway was treated at a hospital for a slight cut on his head and other minor injuries and released, according to the Georgia State Patrol.
The chase began when Atlanta police spotted a suspicious car on I-85, and its driver refused to stop, Lt. Paul Cosper of the Georgia State Patrol told the AJC.
The pursuit led from the interstate onto surface streets, ran through Midtown and ended on Lynford Drive in southwest Atlanta. In the course of the chase, Holloway's vehicle crashed at Peachtree Street and Ponce De Leon Avenue.
Channel 2 reported the fleeing car stopped on Lynwood Drive in southwest Atlanta, and its driver and a passenger jumped out and ran.
The driver ducked into a nearby house, where he was confronted by its resident. He fled outside, jumped a fence and disappeared, Channel 2 reported.
The resident flagged down a motorcycle police officer and told him what happened. Police soon had the driver in custody. They continue to look for his passenger.
