Singer-songwriter helps soothe grieving families

One man is helping to heal his wounded heart and the hearts of thousands of families who are grieving the death of a child by sharing his music.

Singer-songwriter Alan Pedersen, whose daughter Ashley, 18, was killed in an automobile accident in 2001, will perform at a support group for bereaved families at 7 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Marietta, 148 Church St.

The message behind Pedersen’s songs has a special resonance for the Compassionate Friends, a self-help support organization for grieving families with chapters throughout the United States.

Since Ashley’s death, Pedersen has been writing songs in her memory and performing them across the country. For more information about Pedersen, visit www.everashleymusic.com; for more information about the Compassionate Friends or to find a chapter near you, visit www. compassionatefriends.org.
