Ranking: N. Fulton city is one of 10 best for millennials in America

Millennials are looking for places to live that have great job opportunities, affordable housing and easy access to bars and restaurants, among other things. But without actually visiting the city first, how can millennial movers know which cities are the best for them?

Niche.com has come up with a ranking of the “Best Cities for Millennials in America” in 2017. And one city in north Fulton County cracks the top 10.

Sandy Spring is the top Georgia city on the list, coming in at No. 10. It bests Atlanta by six spots.

A 10-year Sandy Springs’ resident wrote on Niche: “This city has afforded me many opportunities that I otherwise wouldn't have had in the small town that I am from. ... I especially love the sense of community in Sandy Springs. Not to mention the awesome police department that keeps their citizens safe."

In constructing the formula for the ranking, Niche considered several factors which included: the number of residents 25 to 34 years old, access to bars and coffee shops, percentage of residents who have a bachelor’s degree or higher, cost of living, diversity grade, crime, percent change in employees and the number of 25 to 34 year-olds who have moved to the city within the last year.

Arlington, Virginia was No. 1 in the ranking. The only other Georgia city to crack the top 100 was Athens, coming in at No. 84.
