Pit bull shot 4 times during Atlanta burglary dies after surgery

Someone broke into a southwest Atlanta home last Friday and shot the homeowner’s dog, Coco, four times, Channel 2 Action News reports. The seven-year-old pit bull died Thursday evening after undergoing surgery.

The owner said when he arrived home after the burglary and found his injured dog, he fell down beside her and called her name. She looked at him and stood up on three broken legs, he said.

“I don’t know what kind of monster you have to be...” he told the television station Thursday, before Coco’s death. He said, with a shaky voice, that she would die for him, so he’ll fight for her.

The suspect allegedly entered the victim’s home on Ladd Street and took two televisions and a computer.

The owner asked his name not be aired for safety concerns.
