Johns Creek will be getting a new fire station soon, and just picked what piece of land it wants it to sit on.
During a meeting Monday evening, the city council voted unanimously to authorize the purchase of 1.8 acres of land at 4795 Kimball Bridge Road. The city is buying the land from residents Dean Le and Tuynga Do Le, according to the sale agreement. The land will cost the city $379,000.
In a release, the city says that the new fire station will improve response times along several roads in northern and central Johns Creek, an area where 8,867 residents reside.

With minimal land available to purchase in this strategic location, the council approved the purchase because the land my not be available in the future, the city says.
Johns Creek operates three other fire stations, which were formerly operated by Fulton County and were in place at the time of incorporation in 2006. The three fire stations are in the eastern and southern parts of the city.
The city staff has a 60-day due diligence period before the purchase is finalized. The exact timeline for construction has yet to be determined, the city says.
