Morehouse College was among six historically black colleges and universities to receive grants from the United Negro College Fund to address the needs of faculty.

Each college will receive $111,000 over two years to implement plans focusing on technology, training, curriculum development and other areas.

Officials with the United Negro College Fund said strong faculty members are essential to increasing the number of students who graduate.

The following colleges also were selected to receive the grants --  Edward Waters College, Florida Memorial University, Johnson C. Smith University, Saint Augustine’s College and Tougaloo College.
