Additional charges were filed Friday against a convicted child molester arrested in Paulding County, where investigators used a tracking device to find their suspect.

As one of the county's five sexual predators, Anthony Tims, 42, of Hiram, was required to wear an ankle monitor with a GPS device, Sgt. Brandon Gurley with the Paulding County Sheriff's Office told the AJC. Data from the monitor placed Tims at three locations where women have reported a man exposed himself, Gurley said.

Since mid-September, deputies have responded to three indecent exposure reports in the area of South Davis Mill and Hiram Sudie roads. And Thursday, investigators secured warrants for Tims' arrest.

“He was one of the most closely monitored offenders," Gurley said. “We got the warrants today and they started tracking him. Deputies were saturating the areas where he was last pinged on the map."

Tims was arrested after a short chase near Hiram, police said. He faces three counts of Peeping Tom, three counts of public indecency, three counts of simply assault and one charge of criminal attempt to commit a burglary, Gurley said Friday. Additional charges are expected.

Tims was released from Rivers State Prison in June 2008 after serving nearly nine years for child molestation, according to the Georgia Department of Corrections. He was also in prison from May 1989 until March 1990 and again from September 1993 until February 1994, records show.

Georgia requires that those convicted of sexual crimes register as sex offenders. Sexual predators are those deemed to be a higher risk to re-offend, Gurley said.

“He was a dangerous individual, so we’re glad to have him off the streets," Gurley said.
