Metro Atlanta makes top 25 list for solar jobs in 2016

When it comes to solar employment in the United States, one nonprofit considers Atlanta among the metro areas with the largest number of industry jobs.

The Solar Foundation lists the Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Marietta, Georgia area as having 2,406 solar jobs in 2016 — up 15 percent from 2015, according to a news release.

The data collection is part of the organization’s Solar Jobs Census 2016, the seventh annual report on solar employment in the United States. An interactive map is also available.

Twenty metro areas out of 25 are listed before Atlanta; California led the way with 26,056 jobs.

The Solar Foundation defines solar workers as those who spend at least 50 percent of their time on solar-related work.
