A four-alarm fire broke out at an apartment building under construction Thursday night in downtown Raleigh, North Carolina, WRAL reported.

The five-story building on West North Street caught fire at about 10 p.m.

The fire spread to another high-rise building and firefighters said people could be trapped inside.

Avoid the downtown area surrounding North Street, West Street and Harrington. Raleigh Fire and Police responding to fire.

Nearby buildings and residents were being evacuated.
