Developers of the food hall set for Marietta Square have announced a 13th restaurant has signed on. And its from some folks you might recognize.
The people behind the Square’s popular Thaicoon & Sushi Bar plans to open Shai-Karr inside Marietta Square Market.
It will offer “a new twist on modern Thai street food.”
The eatery’s name, according to MSM’s news release, comes from the Thai word from the part of a roof overhang where people traditionally cook and gather.

The market was announced in late March 2017. The 18,000-square-foot mixed-use complex is supposed to be like an OTP version of ITP-places-to-be-seen spots Krog Street and Ponce City markets.
Spokeswoman Jennifer Nilsson told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that the opening date is late fall.

That was moved back from March 31, which was the estimated completion date listed on the Marietta Historic Board of Review application.
In all, there will be 19 spots for shops and restaurants in the market.
Nilsson said they are working to fill all 19 spots before opening and are still talking leases with folks.
As for construction, the exterior is almost done and crews will start shifting to building the guts of the place.
The market will be just behind the William Root House Museum & Garden.
The food hall will have an old train station theme, drawing on the county’s long locomotive history.
One of the vendors will be inside a restored 1922 curved side streetcar made to look like the ones that ran from Marietta to Atlanta in the 1930s and ‘40s.
The new market also has a plan to create 363 parking spots, along with plans for a central bar providing a variety of alcohol and craft beers.
