Man who killed over fake $100 bill convicted

After gunning down a man outside an Atlanta convenience store in 2008, Charles Richardson fled to Chicago, police said. He was later captured and returned to Georgia to face charges of murder.

Richardson, 27, was apparently mad about receiving a fake $100 bill from 20-year-old Kyle Jennings, police said. So when Richardson found Jennings, he shot him three times.

On Thursday, a Fulton County jury convicted Richardson of murder, aggravated assault and firearm possession, according to Yvette Brown, court spokeswoman. Fulton County Superior Court Judge Henry Newkirk sentenced Richardson to a maximum life plus five years in jail.

Jennings, who played football at Douglass High School in Atlanta, had planned to attend Jacksonville State University, Brown said. He died after being shot twice in the back and once in the leg.
