A man who was upset because a Bank of America couldn’t perform a wire transfer for him now faces federal charges after making threats.
Authorities blocked the area around the Bank of America on Johnson Ferry Road near Shallowford Road late Friday morning after the man, irritated at a bank employee, responded with “that’s OK, I have guns and bombs” when the employee couldn’t make a wire transfer.
“Well, they have to take that seriously,” Cobb Police Sgt. Dana Pierce said.
The man was arrested, and the bomb squad has been called to the bank to make routine checks of the building. Pierce said no type of explosive device has been found.
“I don’t think he realized the seriousness of what he did, and now he’s looking at a federal offense versus just trying to work this (wire transfer) out with their administration,” Pierce said. “He will know the difference now.”
