A Sunday night shooting outside a popular northeast Atlanta nightclub and concert venue left one man dead and another in custody.

The shooting happened about 11 p.m. outside the Masquerade on North Avenue.

"It appears the victim and the suspect in the case were involved in a verbal altercation over a vehicle blocking the street," Atlanta police Major Keith Meadows told WSB Radio.

An off-duty Atlanta police officer working security at the club took the suspect, Darrell Keith Brown,  into custody. Brown was taken to the Fulton County Jail, charged with murder.

The Fulton County Medical Examiner's office identified the victim as Matthew Cole, 26, of Sautee Nacoochee, a small community in White County.

The reggae act Major Lazer performed at the club Sunday night.
