Man, child killed during 'shootout' at home

Authorities found a man and a child dead from apparent gunshot wounds on the 600 block of Roberts Drive Thursday.

Family members identified one the man killed as Norman Reese, 29.

Police say the victims were shot multiple times.

The GBI is not releasing any information on possible motives, but did say the incident is isolated to those involved.

Neighbors said they heard a shoot-out.

“I peeped out the blinds and I saw this guy running through by the apartments and the whole time he was shooting back at the house,” said one neighbor, who did not want to be identified.

They said there is plenty of activity at the house, which is known in the neighborhood as "the white house." Some people said a car wash operated out of the home. Others said it was empty. And then there were some who say something unsavory was going on.

“It’s what they call a drug house, a trap house. There is constantly traffic over there any time of the day,” the neighbor said.

The deadly shooting has put many people on edge.

"I'm just kind of shaken a little bit. It's just too close for something to be going on that bad and you didn't know it," neighbor Verallus Hightower said.

The killer is still on the loose.

"I'm very concerned. We just need to be careful," one neighbor said.
