Atlanta police are looking for three men who are accused of beating and robbing another man near the North Avenue rail station Thursday.
The man called police around 7:30 a.m., saying three men -- two of whom were carrying metal rods -- walked up to him and began hitting him with their fists. The men then robbed him and ran off, police said.
The man described the assailants to police as three black men, one having a lighter complexion and two having a darker complexion. All three men had dreadlocks.
The incident prompted Georgia Tech police to issue a crime alert because the station is near the Tech campus. Police emphasized that the victim was not connected to Georgia Tech.
MARTA police are aware of the incident, but they are not investigating it, MARTA spokeswoman Cara Hodgson said.
