A Publix Super Market in Kennesaw was issued a 14-day suspension - through 11 p.m. July 2 - for its alcoholic beverage license by a 5-0 vote of the Kennesaw City Council on June 18.
Now removed by Publix, Timothy Lowe had been the licensee of this Publix 1077 at 2090 Baker Road, Kennesaw and for two more Publix Super Markets in Kennesaw - Publix 559 at 2774 Cobb Parkway, Suite 201 and Publix 769 on Old 41 Highway.
Normally, Publix 1077 would go before the city’s License Review Board.
However, since one of these three Publix stores had been on probation or suspension within the last 24 months, City Manager Jeff Drobney had to bring the matter to Mayor Derek Easterling and the City Council to consider revocation of the license, probation or suspension with or without conditions.
Until May 11 when an underage agent of the Kennesaw Police Department was sold a six-pack of beer, Publix 1077 had no alcohol violations since obtaining its alcohol license in 2004.
In March 2017, one of the other locations, Publix 559 at 2774 Cobb Parkway, Suite 201, was suspended for 14 days by the city’s License Review Board for selling alcohol to an underage person - its first violation since obtaining its alcohol license in 2001.
