Keep your coat handy: Frigid temperatures, possible wintry mix on way

Keep your coat handy because today’s cold weather is just the beginning of a frigid few days.

Wind chills are still running in the 20s for much of Georgia, after most people woke up to freezing temperatures Thursday.

Friday is going to be even colder.

Severe Weather Team 2 is tracking the timing of temperatures in the 20s, on Channel 2 Action News.

As for highs today, it will be the coldest afternoon since Dec. 10, one month ago, Severe Weather Team 2 Meteorologist Katie Walls said.

Highs will remain in the 40s through the weekend into the start of next week, Walls said.

Light, widespread rain will move in Saturday night and continue through Sunday morning.

Accumulation is forecast to be less than 1 inch, Walls said.
