If you thought traffic and parking were tough for events at the Georgia Dome, consider this: The Mercedes-Benz Stadium can hold more people.

The new venue, which will be home to the Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta United teams, can be expanded to 75,000 seats to host events like the Super Bowl, or up to 83,000 seats for the NCAA Final Four. The Dome’s capacity was less than 71,500.

So if you’re heading that way for Georgia vs. Alabama for College Football Playoff National Championship 2018, it might not be a bad idea to take MARTA.

Google Maps shows the stadium's address as 35 Northside Drive NW, a location that’s conveniently situated a few hundred feet away from the Vine City MARTA station.

Here are some tips for getting to the stadium using MARTA trains:

  • If you’re coming from the north: Take the red or gold line heading towards the Airport Station. Get off at Five Points Station, where you’ll transfer onto either the green line heading towards Bankhead or the blue line heading towards Hamilton E. Holmes. Get off at Vine City.
  • If you’re coming from the south: Take the red line heading towards North Springs or the gold line heading towards Doraville. Get off at Five Points Station, where you’ll transfer onto either the green line heading towards Bankhead or the blue line heading towards Hamilton E. Holmes. Get off at Vine City.
  • If you’re coming from the west: Take the green line heading towards Edgewood/Candler Park or the blue line heading towards Indian Creek. Get off at Vine City.
  • If you’re coming from the east: Take either the green line heading towards Bankhead or the blue line heading towards Hamilton E. Holmes. Get off at Vine City.

Once you’re at Vine City, exit that station and walk east towards Northside Drive. You’ll see the stadium.
