Cobb County's school superintendent Fred Sanderson told the school board Thursday night that teachers would need to take three furlough days this semester.
"I don't see these furlough days going away," Sanderson said.
Sanderson targeted Feb. 15 and suggested that teachers forgo pay from the snow day earlier this month and the flood day in September.
He will bring a proposal to the school board in coming weeks, but wanted to announce it Thursday for the "sake of communications."
"We will be closed Feb. 15," Sanderson said.
The district will not be able to dip into reserves to prevent furloughs this semester as it did in the fall, Sanderson said.
Teachers' pay would probably be docked in April, May and June, he said.
