Original: A DeKalb County American Deli failed its recent health inspection with various issues.
The restaurant, located at 2998 Turner Hill Road by the Mall at Stonecrest, scored 64 on Tuesday, according to the inspector’s report.
Among the problems were both living and dead flies found in the kitchen, the report said. Also, an employee was seen practicing incorrect handwashing and raw meat was thawing at the wrong temperature.

The inspector also took issue with the fact that paper towels were missing from the handsink.
Through an employee, the manager declined to comment in a phone call Wednesday.
Restaurants that fail are typically rechecked within 10 days.
