A showroom unit at the AmericasMart on Spring Street was damaged by fire Friday morning, an Atlanta fire official told the AJC.
Assistant fire chief Chris Wessels said the fire broke out on the 13th floor and was controlled by the building's sprinkler system. He said the fire was contained to one showroom unit.
“We did have some smoke but no injuries," Wessels said. He said smoke spread through about one-third of the 13th floor.
Spring Street is closed between Carnegie Way and Baker Street.
Wessels said the call came in around 10:51 and the fire was under control by 11:20.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, he said. He said the smoke had been cleared from the area but that AmericasMart officials would decide whether to reopen the floor Friday.
