Cobb County investigators issued an arrest warrant Thursday for a driver involved in a Marietta car crash that killed a teenager in May.

Gabriel Tuesta-Hidalgo also been charged with making an improper U-turn, driving under the influence while under the age of 21, and serious injury by vehicle, according to the Cobb Police Department.

"Mr. Hidalgo's attorney has been made aware of the arrest warrant and is expected to arrange for his client to turn himself into the Cobb County Adult Detention Center," Officer Mike Bowman said in a statement.

The crash happened just after 11 p.m. May 28, police said. A 2006 Kia Sorento was eastbound on Barrett Parkway approaching Bells Ferry Road, where Barrett becomes Piedmont Road. A 1990 Mazda Miata was westbound on Piedmont approaching the intersection.

"As the Kia was crossing Bells Ferry Road, the driver of the Mazda initiated a U-turn from westbound Piedmont Road to eastbound Piedmont Road," Bowman said. "As the Mazda was turning, the Kia collided with it at the passenger side door, fatally injuring the passenger."

Bowman identified that passenger as 17-year-old Laquan Hilton of Acworth.

Tuesta-Hidalgo, of Woodstock, the 19-year-old driver of the Mazda, was taken in stable condition to WellStar Kennestone Hospital, Marietta. The Kia's driver, Michael Williams, 26, of Marietta, was also taken in stable condition to WellStar Kennestone.
