DeKalb police seeking officers at event this week

The DeKalb County Police Department plans to seek new officers at a job fair Wednesday morning.

The event is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Central United Methodist Church, located at 501 Mitchell St. in Atlanta. The salary ranges from $38,000 to more than $41,000, according to a news release from the department.

Applicants, who must be at least 20, must complete and submit the online application in the "job opportunities" section on the county website.

The salary starts at $38,151 and increases to $40,059 for candidates with a four year degree and $41,343 for certified officers with two years’ experience, the release said. Benefits include group insurance, a pension plan, tuition reimbursement, paid vacation and sick days, deferred compensation plan and opportunities for advancement.
