The Pedestrian and Bicycle Information Center has named Decatur as a Silver Walk Friendly Community for its walkability initiatives and programs.
Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Highway Safety and FedEx, the program is designed to recognize communities for their commitment to pedestrian safety.
Decatur was honored for work such as creating Team Decatur to participate in a corporate 5K and active walking programs for seniors.
