U.S. Customs and Border Protection said they’re looking to hire 5,000 officers to protect U.S. borders.
Customs and Border Protection agents set up a booth at a Spartan Race in Concord on Saturday in hopes of recruiting people.
Recruiters told Channel 9 that they're targeting race participants because they're taking on a challenging athletic course and they need people with that type of mindset.
“We are always focused on hiring good men and women to help protect America and stop terrorism and stop criminal activity,” said Scott Sams, the chief of U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
Customs and Border Protection said it will be hiring thousands of officers across the country over the next few years.
It is focusing on air and marine officers, customs protection officers and border agents to protect the southwestern and northern borders.
