Police had been called to the home that Christy Love-Bullock and Montez Love-Bullock shared in Buford three or four times before Christy called 911 on Aug. 25.
Christy Love-Bullock made two calls. First, she said that there was a man at her house and she wanted him to leave. In the second call, she said the man was gone and she no longer needed police. At the same time, a neighbor was on the line with 911, reporting a man lying bloody and unresponsive in the middle of Apple Grove Road, Gwinnett County Cpl. Jason Allen said.
That man was 39-year-old Montez Love-Bullock, dead from a gunshot wound.
Christy Love-Bullock, 39, has been charged with aggravated assault and felony murder in connection with her husband’s death. She faced a preliminary hearing Thursday afternoon to determine whether the case would move forward.

Christy and Montez Love-Bullock were arguing in their bedroom after midnight on Aug. 25, Christy Love-Bullock’s 16-year-old daughter told police. The teenager heard a gunshot, followed by Montez Love-Bullock saying “I’m leaving” and “tumbling down the stairs,” Allen said. There was another gunshot and Montez Love-Bullock shouted “I’m going, I’m going” and slammed the door. The 16-year-old was not sure if there was another gunshot, but there was a bullet hole in the front door when police arrived.
Montez Love-Bullock was found by a neighbor around 1 a.m., but the neighbor did not attempt to revive him, Allen said. Montez Love-Bullock was not responsive or breathing, the neighbor told police. Officers found a bullet hole in his arm, and the Gwinnett County Medical Examiner determined that the bullet had gone through his arm and into his chest, killing him.
Montez Love-Bullock had a bite mark on his back, a bruise on his stomach and blood under his nose from a laceration, Allen said. Police found that 10 minutes before Christy Love-Bullock called 911, Montez Love-Bullock took photos of those injuries on his cell phone.
Allen found that there had been “at least three to four” calls about domestic disputes at the Love-Bullock home, with at least one made by Christy Love-Bullock.
Christy Love-Bullock told police that she had shot a gun, but that She did not shoot directly at her husband. Police found the gun in a nightstand in the master bedroom.
Christy Love-Bullock is being held without bond at the Gwinnett County Detention Center. The issue of bond will be addressed by the Gwinnett County Superior Court at a later date.
