Cold weather has given Ga. 400 drivers a few days’ reprieve in the Buckhead area. Lane closures planned for the late night and early morning hours of Wednesday and Thursday for the construction of a pedestrian bridge have been postponed.

Weather permitting, construction and lane closures will resume from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Friday of next week, according to an announcement from MARTA, one of the partners in the project.

The bridge from Stratford Road to Tower Place is intended to reconnect the east and west sides of Buckhead. Scheduled to be finished by November 2013, the span also will feature a new entrance to the north end of the existing MARTA Buckhead station.

The project is a partnership involving MARTA, the Buckhead Community Improvement District, Georgia Department of Transportation, State Road and Toll Authority, Federal Transit Administration and City of Atlanta.
