A Smyrna pizzeria has failed its recent health check in part for having a dirty kitchen, according to Cobb County health department records.
Siracusa’s New York Pizzeria, 5350 United Drive, scored a 57 on Tuesday. Any score below a 70 is considered failing.
The walk-in cooler was broken and holding food at unsafe temperatures, according to the report.
A woman who identified herself as the owner’s wife told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution over the phone that they are getting a new cooler in a couple days.

After The AJC asked her further questions and requested a comment about the failure, the line disconnected. An immediate call back was sent to a message machine; that message hasn’t been returned.
The inspector also noted “accumulations and debris on nonfood-contact surfaces throughout kitchen” like floors, under the tables where food is prepared and inside the dough mixer.

Also, the restroom door doesn’t close correctly.
Siracusa’s has scored within the 80s during inspections all the way back to July 2014, records show.
Follow-up inspections are usually done within 10 days of the original evaluation.
