A suspect is in the hospital with two gunshot wounds after shooting at police during a car chase that ended in Braselton.
Second suspect arrested in Gwinnett club shootout that killed teen
The male suspect, who has not been named, was identified as a wanted person with active felony warrants by a Gwinnett County police officer Friday morning. The officer attempted to pull the suspect over, but the suspect fled in a car, initiating a pursuit, the police department posted on Twitter.
The suspect pulled out a gun and began shooting at the pursuing officer, the department said on Twitter. The officer performed a “precision immobilization technique,” a law enforcement tactic that forces a car to sharply turn and stop, in order to end the pursuit near Friendship Road and Ga. 211 in Braselton.
Once stopped, the suspect again put his gun outside the driver’s side window. The officer shot at the suspect. The suspect suffered bullet wounds to the lower jaw and hand, but police said it was unclear whether the wounds were self-inflicted or if they came from the officer’s gunshot. The suspect is in stable condition at a nearby hospital.
The GBI is investigating the shooting. The agency regularly investigates officer-involved shootings throughout the state, including in Gwinnett County
