As officials continue to investigate what caused the massive fire and eventual bridge collapse along Interstate 85, we're looking into the structural history of that bridge.

The bridge over Piedmont Road was built in 1953 and was last reconstructed in 1985, according to the Federal Highway Administration's national bridge inspection database.

The bridge received a "sufficiency rating" of 94.6 on a scale of 1 to 100 in its most recent inspection, which was in 2015, the data showed.

Its deck was rated as very good, while its superstructure and substructures were rated good.

GDOT's online data puts about 243,000 vehicles a day going over the stretch of I-85 a little bit south of there, in a 2015 measurement.
