Sherrod speaks at Emory about diversity

Shirley Sherrod, a former employee with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, will participate in a discussion about diversity starting at 6 p.m. Dec. 8 at Emory University Law School.

Sherrod, the former Georgia director for rural development, was forced to resign in July over allegations of racism.

An edited video posted online showed Sherrod, a black woman, admitting she had given minimal support to a white farmer who had sought her help. The video cut Sherrod explaining that the encounter taught her she should help everyone she could -- regardless of their race.

The event is presented by the American Institute for Managing Diversity. For more information go to: www.aimd.org.
