Atlanta Public Schools is seeking hundreds of parents, teachers, and community members willing to serve on school governance teams.
Each school in the district needs two parent or guardian representatives and two educator representatives to fill two-year terms on the governing bodies, or “GO Teams,” that help provide direction for schools. The GO Teams’ work includes offering input on finances, developing strategic plans, and addressing student needs.
APS estimates that about 400 GO Team members’ terms will expire in June. Those interested in serving have through Feb. 23 to fill out an online candidacy form, which can be found here. Those seeking a seat held by a parent or guardian must have a child enrolled at the school for at least one year of the two-year term, according to the district’s website.
Online voting to determine who serves on the GO Team will take place March 20-26.
