Fireworks dropped into the overnight box at the Berwick Public Library caused massive damage to a number of books, CDs and DVDs.
The library posted photos of the burned inventory to its Facebook page this week.
According to the library, someone dropped fireworks into the overnight bin sometime during Fourth of July celebrations.
No one was hurt and the building was not damaged, the library staff said.
Community members helped put out the fire and clean up after it, but police are still looking for the person responsible for the fire.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
