Instead, they frantically searched for the 7-year-old after she disappeared from the game.

Just 25-minutes later, police found her body in a nearby creek.

"I think it's safe to say Allen County has changed forever," Trooper BJ Eaton told WKBO.

An autopsy report lists Gabby’s death as a homicide and an investigation is under way.

"Nobody wants to go home on a call like this until something can be found out," Eaton noted.

Gabby’s father Brian posted a statement on Facebook Sunday.

"Thank you friends and family.. we've never been this empty. I'd give anything to hold my baby girl just one more time... I love her with all my heart... please continue to pray for my family... I would of gladly traded places with my baby girl.. I don't know why anyone would do this to a baby or anyone for that matter!"

A Gofundme account has been set up to help pay for Gabby's funeral.
