A device found Monday inside a returned rental car in Buckhead was not a grenade, according to police.
It “is not explosive and appears to be a novelty item, possibly a paperweight,” Atlanta police Officer Jarius Daugherty said Wednesday in a statement.

The device was found inside a silver Ford Edge at a Hertz rental car facility Monday in the 3000 block of Peachtree Road, Atlanta police said.
Nearby businesses were evacuated as a precaution.
