A Gwinnett County family only needs to look up to get a fearful reminder of a shooting that “hit home,” according to Channel 2 Action News.

A gunshot in an upstairs apartment at the Amber Mill complex in Duluth ripped through their ceiling, inches from where Crystal Rios and her stepmother were sitting.

“I was over there sitting, relaxing in that bed when I heard the gunshots,” grandfather Horacio Rios said.

The action from above went like this, Gwinnett police said: Benedicto Grenados, 28, accused another man of having an affair with his wife, they fought, and Grenados fired a shot into the floor.

The Rios’ apartment filled up with smoke.

“I was so scared that we were immediately going to get hit,” Crystal Rios said.

No one was hurt — the gunshot missed everyone below.

Grenados was charged with aggravated assault, possessing a firearm while committing a crime and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

"I am scared for all my family,” stepmother Julissa Garcia said through an interpreter, “because I don't know if the suspect could get out of jail and take retaliations.”
