One man is dead and another is behind bars after a shooting Sunday evening in southeast DeKalb County.

The victim, who has not been identified, was found shot multiple times and lying in the yard of a home on Panola Woods Court off Panola Road, according to police. He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Before he died, he was able to give officers one key piece of information: the name of his alleged killer. As one DeKalb County officer applied pressure to his wounds, another recorded the man’s declaration on his body-worn camera, according to a police report obtained by AJC.com.

He told them Keyland Hunt was responsible before EMS carted him away around 6 p.m.

Officers were familiar with Hunt because they spoke with him earlier Sunday while responding to another call at the same home, police said. It’s unclear what the earlier call was about.

After the shooting, officers were canvassing the area when they heard yelling coming from the backyard of the home next door. They saw the 32-year-old Atlanta man standing there unclothed.

“Next to the suspect was his clothing and a black handgun,” an officer said in the report.

Hunt was told to get on the ground and he was arrested without incident, according to police. He is being held in the county jail on a charge of felony murder.

DeKalb police spokesman Sgt. J.D. Spencer told AJC.com investigators are still trying to determine motive.
