South Fulton police responded to two crashes, one of them fatal, in less than two hours late Saturday.

Traffic investigators were sent to the area of Creel Road and Fox Hall Lane about 11 p.m. Saturday evening, South Fulton police said in a post on Facebook.

A driver had been thrown from a car during a rollover crash, the post said. That driver suffered serious injuries.

Just over an hour later, police went to the area of Old National Highway and Flat Shoals Road, the scene of the second crash, officials said.

Investigators found one of the two vehicles involved in that wreck engulfed in flames, police said.

Details about what led to the fiery crash were not released.

Phylicia Nixon, 32, of Riverdale, and Evelyn Abney, 67, were both killed, according to the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s office. Officials did not know Abney’s city of residence. A third person was taken to a hospital with serious injuries, officials said.

The cause of the crashes is under investigation, but police believe speed was a factor in both incidents.
