Beeping and textured eggs provided for a customized Easter egg hunt experience at the annual Spring Egg Hunt Saturday, hosted by the Perkins School for the Blind.
This event is an opportunity for the school to apply the Perkins Expanded Core Curriculum which encourages the children to use their mobility, social interaction and learning skills.
“The best thing about it is that it shows what these kids can do just like their sighted peers because they’ve had special education services they need to get the skills to know to listen for the egg and to find the ones filled with candy too,” Perkins’ Marilyn Rea Beyer told FOX25 at last year’s event.
Over 150 children and family members were expected to participate. Eggs with tactile decorations and glitter were available for deaf and blind children.
