Ice cream social: Enjoy a sweet treat during Slow Food Atlanta’s 12th annual ice cream social, a collaboration with Peachtree Road Farmers Market and a summer tradition. The event will feature local chefs and ambitious amateurs partnering with local farmers to create flavorful ice cream. Guests should bring their own spoon. Advance tickets are $20 and $5 for children 5 and over; at-the-door tickets will be $25 and $10 for children; children under 4 will be free. Bible study series: Learn more about the Bible and God’s word during a fall Bible study series featuring interactive workshops; works by popular Christian authors and bloggers; classic studies of psalms, proverbs and creeds; and more. Movie screening: Bring a picnic dinner and a blanket for a movie screening of “Black Panther.” Free movie snacks will be provided. Free and open to all. Suicide awareness: A free program to increase suicide awareness will include causes, prevention, help for survivors, how it relates to youth and addiction and what churches may do in response. A panel of speakers will include Gary and Elvira Delaplane of Mourning Dove Ministries, representatives from the United States National Guard as well as The Link, a national resource center for suicide prevention and aftercare.
