Kids are used to getting together and playing a game of basketball, soccer or another sport, but by the time most people reach adulthood, their workouts don't always include this type of play.
Why let kids have all the fun? A huge number of sports leagues are available in Atlanta to let you join a team to get or stay fit. You can meet plenty of new people in the process, and whatever your interests or location, there's a league to match. Some are male- or female-only teams, and others are co-ed. They offer everything from traditional team sports like softball to more social sports like cornhole. They also frequently host happy hours or other social events, so you'll have a good excuse to hang out and have fun after your game.
Try these five Atlanta-area sports leagues to stay fit and have fun:
Atlanta Sport and Social Club
This league has over 15,000 annual participants in more than 70 leagues throughout the area. It has a wide variety of leagues, from bocce to soccer to kickball, and you can even play inner tube water polo or participate in the "Barlympics."
ZogSports has leagues including football, volleyball, softball, soccer, kickball and cornhole. Several leagues meet for regular happy hours after the game, so you can have the opportunity to socialize and unwind after you get some exercise. The website allows you to search by the sport you're interested in, your neighborhood and the days of the week you're available in order to find a league that fits what you're looking for.
Atlanta Sports Connection
Atlanta Sports Connection (ASC) has flag football, softball and kickball leagues for men or women as well as co-ed leagues. Games are held at Boulevard Crossing Park, Pittman Park and J.P. Moseley Recreation Center. ASC also sponsors social events such as the Fallen Warriors Rooftop Social and a fundraiser to support mentorship and leadership programs for girls.
Fusion Sport & Social
Players can participate in flag football, softball, soccer and volleyball leagues. Softball is played at Peachtree Hills Park, volleyball and softball at Brookhaven Boys & Girls Club and football at Blackburn Park. Socials are also held.
Join a softball, bowling or flag football league, or if you're a lawyer, you can even participate in an exclusive league of your own. Games are held year-round in Marietta, Buckhead and Piedmont Park. Happy hours are frequently held, with prizes that are raffled off to benefit charity.
