MOBILE, Ala. — Isaiah Wynn is on fire these days.
The Georgia offensive lineman was named to the All-SEC first team following the Bulldogs’ run to the 2017 SEC championship. After starting 40 of 41 consecutive games in Georgia’s rise back to a national powerhouse, Wynn rolled into Mobile, Ala., this week for Senior Bowl practices — and kept his successful streak going strong.
Wynn was a standout performer in each of the first two days of practices for the South squad. He won a vast majority of his 1-on-1 battles and showed a tremendous amount of power on the inside.
Wynn started all 15 games for Georgia in 2017 at left tackle. However, the 6-foot-2 Florida native’s NFL future will most likely be on the interior. And he’s just fine with that.
“I just want to show I can play it all, whether it’s guard or tackle … both sides, too,” Wynn said Wednesday.
Wynn has become a popular name among draft analysts and NFL personnel in Mobile. He said Wednesday he has spoken to “just about all” of the 32 franchises.
On Wednesday, he proved Tuesday’s performance wasn’t a fluke. But the former Bulldogs lineman still wants to tighten up some areas heading into the final stretch of Senior Bowl week.
“I feel like I did well,” Wynn said. “Of course, you can always get better on your technique. My hand placement wasn’t really there. But overall, I’ll do good as long as I get better day by day. … I want really want to work on my hand placement and anchoring down better.”

Wynn started 12 games for Georgia at left guard in 2016. The switch back to the interior hasn’t been a hard one for him, even when he flips across the center to the right side.
“It’s an adjustment just having to be work with those more explosive guys and getting my hands off quicker,” Wynn said. “But other than that, it’s been pretty good. It’s not a huge transition.”
Playing back on the inside is a blast from the past for Wynn, who saw the highs and lows of Georgia football during his four-year career in Athens.
“Looking back, it was definitely filled with its ups and downs,” Wynn said. “But being able to make history and be a part of the team that changed Georgia’s culture, it’s been great. This ride, this experience this past season has been lovely.”
Wynn started one game as a freshman in 2014 and became a full-time starter in 2015, the final year under Mark Richt.
After making the switch from guard to tackle, Wynn was the leader for a Georgia offensive line that entered the 2017 campaign with a lot of question marks. Those quickly turned to exclamation points as the Bulldogs mashed their way to the conference title and their first-ever berth in the College Football Playoff.
“I think everybody played with a chip on their shoulder,” Wynn said. “Everybody knew that we had something to prove. Day in and day out, everybody made sure that the guy next to him was buying in.”
Now Wynn has his sights set on continuing that success at the next level.
The versatile lineman most likely has made some more money for himself by improving his NFL draft stock this week in Mobile. Now, Wynn is soaking it all in and focusing on finishing strong in a Georgia helmet for one last time.
“I’m hoping to take home things I need to work on and figure out what I need to do to get better,” Wynn said. “This experience has been great. I’m excited.”
