On Father’s Day, John Legend shared photo of Chrissy Teigen — pumping breast milk — with sweet message

John Legend and his wife, Chrissy Teigen, are a unique brand of couple goals. On the one hand, they're relatable — Teigen has a history of sharing real moments on her social media accounts, like a photo of stretch marks on her thighs and, more recently, one of her in postpartum underwear after the birth of the couple's second baby on May 17, 2018.

Then, on the other hand, they're a completely aspirational pair. Both are gorgeous, talented members of Hollywood's elite, and they support for each other as equal partners in crime. Legend's recent Instagram post is further indication of his admiration for his wife.

On Father's Day, after Teigen shared her own loving tribute to her "best friend and partner always," the 39-year-old took to Instagram to share a photo of his model wife pumping breast milk in the car on their way to dinner. He captioned the image: "I know it's Father's Day and all but my wife is pretty awesome. She's taking me to dinner but still on mommy duty."

The image is the epitome of their relatable-yet-aspirational public persona. It's a candid, off-the-cuff shot, but they look so dapper. Legend's photo is special, though, because it goes beyond his expression for his wife. The support he shows for her helps bring the idea that women should be able to breastfeed in public without criticism or degradation into mainstream consciousness. It helps to normalize breastfeeding and expresses that a woman's body is not lewd for how it sustains a new human life — it's natural, strong and beautiful.

This isn't the first time Legend has stood up for his wife's parenting, either. Last year, the singer-songwriter publicized the double standard he witnessed for new moms versus new dads, calling out people's habit of mommy-shamming while dads go by unnoticed.

So many people idolize Legend and Teigen for their countless positive qualities — hopefully this supportive dynamic for women and new moms will stick with their fans, too.
