CANTON
“The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” at the Canton Theatre
Spell check must come from within in this one-act musical comedy. Cherokee Theatre Company tells the story of a spelling competition that pits six unconventional middle schoolers against one another. A trio of equally eccentric grown-ups oversees the contest. Cheryl Lambert directs the production, featuring music and lyrics by William Finn. Angela Rupp handles the musical direction. It’s the last weekend to make the grade.
8 p.m. March 18 and 19; 2:30 p.m. March 20. $20-$22. Canton Theatre, 171 E. Main St., Canton. 770-591-0282, www.cherokeetheatre.org.
CUMMING
Lakewood 400 Antiques Market
Although its crosstown sibling is history, this venue continues to offer treasures from days gone by. On the third weekend of each month, more than 150 dealers congregate in the 75,000-square-foot building. Memorabilia, rugs, antique furniture and a trove of knickknacks are just a few of the goodies found within. Unlike online shopping, it’s all about the tangible thrill of the hunt. With framing, glass and jewelry repair and furniture restoration available on site, it has the potential to be a one-stop antiquing experience.
9 a.m.-5 p.m. March 18; 9 a.m.-6 p.m. March 19; 10 a.m.-5 p.m. March 20. $3 three-day admission; free ages 11 and younger. Lakewood 400 Antiques Market, 1321 Atlanta Highway, Cumming. 770-889-3400, www.lakewoodantiques.com.
LILBURN
Lilburn Community Garage Sale at Lilburn City Park
Have you ever coveted someone’s coffee table? Maybe a super cool piece of bric-a-brac? If they live in Lilburn, there’s a chance they might be getting rid of it at the Lilburn Community Garage Sale. This popular event sold out of vendor spaces back in February. That means more than 50 parking spots will be packed with goods. So expect quite a few folks selling their unwanted stuff. And it’s not just about old things. People often troll the sale looking for deals on new items, too. Instead of driving blindly on a Saturday morning looking for the next garage sale, a trip here guarantees plenty to pick through.
9 a.m.-2 p.m. March 19. Free. Lilburn City Park, 76 Main St., Lilburn. 770-921-2210, http://cityoflilburn.com.
