James Madison Cherry, age 90, of Atlanta, GA, passed away Saturday, September 1, 2018. He was married to Mildred Gilbert Cherry for 70 years. They were married on the "Bride & Groom" radio show, December 24, 1948 in Hollywood, CA. James was born May 2, 1928 to Jesse Madison Cherry and Ruby Gordon Cherry. He graduated from Atlanta's Boys High School and Emory University where he received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. James was President of Cherry Transfer & Storage Company, President of Clairmont Civitan Club 1963-1964, President of Transportation Club of Atlanta 1985. He was also a member of Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, Delta Nu Alpha, Transportation Fraternity, Pro Mozart Society, Atlanta Music Club and Atlanta Steinway Society. He retired from Burlington Northern Air Express. James had three children, Carter Madison Cherry M.D., Lynn Cherry Smith and Duane Randall Cherry (Alina Nutulesca Cherry); one grandson, Jason Madison Ellingson; 2 great grandsons, Josuha and Andrew Ellingson. His sisters were Jeannie C Klaitz, Norma C Robinson and Mildred C Ahern. Private family services were held for Mr. Cherry. Cherry, James Madison
